楊天一言：見二鼠出，其一爲蛇所吞；其一瞪目如椒，意似甚恨怒，然遙望不敢前。蛇果腹蜿蜒入穴，方將過半，鼠奔來，力嚼其尾，蛇怒，退身出。鼠故便捷，欻然遁去，蛇追不及而返。及入穴，鼠又來，嚼如前狀。蛇入則來，蛇出則往，如是者久。蛇出，吐死鼠於地上。鼠來嗅之，啾啾如悼息，銜之而去。友人張曆友爲作《義鼠行》。

杨天一说：看见两只老鼠出来，其中一只被蛇吞了；另一只瞪大眼睛像花椒一样，神色像是十分怨恨愤怒，但远远望着不敢上前。蛇吃饱后蜿蜒入洞，正要过一半时，老鼠跑来，用力咬它的尾巴，蛇发怒，退出身来。老鼠本来敏捷，倏然逃去，蛇追不上而返回。等到蛇进洞，老鼠又来了，像前次一样咬。蛇进洞它就来了，蛇出洞它就退去，这样持续很久。蛇出洞，把死老鼠吐在地上。老鼠来嗅它，啾啾地像悼念叹息，衔着它离去。朋友张历友为它作了《义鼠行》。
Yang Tianyi once said: I saw two rats come out, and one was swallowed by a snake. The other stared with eyes like peppercorns, its look full of wrath and hatred, yet it kept its distance and dared not come forward. When the snake, having eaten its fill, was coiling into its hole and was about halfway in, the rat ran up and bit hard at its tail. The snake, in a rage, drew back and came out. But the rat was quick and slipped away in a flash, and the snake, unable to catch it, went back. When it entered the hole again, the rat came once more and bit as before. As the snake went in the rat came, and as it came out the rat went away; so it went on for a long while. At last the snake came out and disgorged the dead rat upon the ground. The rat ran up and smelled it, crying piteously as if mourning, then bore it away in its mouth. My friend Zhang Liyou made for it a poem, "The Rat of Righteousness."
